usage of ago in [before ago][since ago][starting ago]

Post by ansonman »

I have written some sentences below.

(1a) Before eight years ago, I travelled to Europe. (my sentence)

(2a) Since six years ago, I have been working for this company. (my sentence)

My friends' revisions below.

(1b) Sometime before eight years ago, I travelled to Europe.

(2b) Sometime since six years ago, I have been working for this company.

I don't know why my sentences are wrong, and my friends think theirs are correct. What is your opinion? Thank you very much.
