I have made up the sentences below.
(1) His child receives $50 in a family allowance every month, so he can buy some snacks after school.
(2) His child receives $50 in the family allowance every month, so he can buy some snacks after school.
(3) His child receives $50 in family allowance every month, so he can buy some snacks after school. (no article)
Some of my non-native friends think "a family allowance" is correct. My other friends think "the family allowance" is correct. In addition, they all think (3) is wrong.
Which one is correct? Thank you for your help.
with no article or with article "in a family allowance" or in the family allowance"
