Hi! The first sentence below is grammatically correct. Is the second one not grammatically correct? I hear native speakers say it though. Thanks, Banyu

1. I have a cat and a dog.
2. I have a cat and dog.

It is quite possible informally to omit repetition of an article, as here. (When in doubt, however, my advice to learners would be always to inlude it.)
