"are not" or "is not"?

Post by Brave »

"My experience in this area over the last couple of years has made me realise more than ever that the greatest barrier to the truth are not factual or intellectual barriers."

Should this be "are not" or "is not"?

Thank you.

'Is'. (The subject is 'barrier', a singular noun.)
