preposition [lost confidence from] or [lost confidence of]

Post by ansonman »

I have made up the sentences below

I. While he was a medical student, he did an internship. Although he passed it, he had struggled badly along the way. Because he lost his confidence from the bad internship experience, he realized that medicine was not the right fit for him.

2. While he was a medical student, he did an internship. Although he passed it, he had struggled badly along the way. Because he lost his confidence of the bad internship experience, he realized that medicine was not the right fit for him.

Which preposition is correct? Thank you very much.
