Same-Sex Marriage Legal Across US

On June 26, 2015, the US Supreme Court made a ruling that caught the world’s attention. Same-sex marriages are now legal across the US. The came after an Ohio man’s struggle to have his name placed on his husband’s . The court ruled that same-sex American couples are entitled to all of the same benefits as heterosexual couples, including the right to have their out-of-state marriage licenses recognized as legal. This means that conservative US states can prevent same-sex marriages or deny same-sex married couples marital benefits. The US is the 21st country to legalize same-sex marriage as a nation.
