Pools Turn Green at Rio Olympics

The outdoor pool at the Rio Olympics turned green this week, leaving many if the water was safe for athletes to swim in. Though the cause of the discolouration is currently unknown, officials say the water has been thoroughly and there is no risks to athletes. There are several about why the pool would turn green. Some pool experts believe it is a build up of algae while others say it’s due to a lack of chemicals. after organizers assured athletes that the diving well would be blue again soon, the adjacent water polo pool turned green as well.
