California Mandates Solar Power on New Homes

California Mandates Solar Power on New Homes

California is taking a major step in reducing greenhouse gases by mandating the use of solar panels on new homes and buildings in the state. If approved, the mandate will apply to new homes and buildings built after January 2020. Some will apply, including homes and buildings that are completely in shade. The solar panels will bring an added cost to home prices, but the in energy will more than cover the extra mortgage costs. Builders will be adding solar panels to homes or creating shared power systems. is the first US state to take this energy-saving initiative.
