A Man Was Buried Inside A Pringles Can
Fredric Baur’s last wish was to have his ashes buried inside a Pringles can. Baur was a chemist and food storage technician for Procter and Gamble. He designed the potato chip tube that holds a tall stack of curved chips. Unlike other chips (also called crisps) that are sold in a bag, Pringles are uniform in colour, shape, and size. The patent for the their packaging was filed in 1966 and approved in 1970. In 2008, Baur’s children honoured his request to be buried inside his own invention. They chose a can of Pringles “Original” on their way to the funeral home. Some of Baur’s remains did not fit inside the can and were placed in an urn. Pringles are sold in over 140 countries around the world.
