Dog Ate 43.5 Socks
An annual veterinarian’s x-ray contest called They Ate WHAT?! awarded third prize to a Great Dane from Portland, Oregon. Back in February, veterinarians removed 43.5 socks from the dog that had been experiencing digestive problems. The owners knew that the dog enjoyed chewing socks, but didn’t realize it was also swallowing some whole. First prize went to an exotic frog that ate 30 ornamental rocks. Second prize went to a German pointer that ate a shish kabob skewer. All of the animals survived after having the foreign bodies removed. Veterinary Practice News has been holding the contest since 2006. Cash prizes are awarded to the animal clinics where the winners received their treatment.
