Apple Pay Rolls Out In US

Apple has rolled out a new payment service known as Apple Pay. The service is now available in the US with the new iPhone 6, and can be used to make purchases at certain establishments that have signed on to Apple’s Network. Contactless readers have been installed at about 200,0000 locations, including McDonald’s and Walt Disney World. The new Apple phone is locked with Touch ID, so that a phone cannot be used to make purchases. Users do not need to open their phone or an app to use Apple Pay. They simply hold their phone up to a while touching the screen. While Apple feels this will be a game changer for the payment industry, the admits there is a long way to go.

Comprehension Questions

    1. Who can use Apple Pay at this time?
    2. What security protection is provided for consumers who use Apple Pay?
    3. How is an in-store purchase made with an Apple phone?

Discussion Questions: Apple has revolutionized many things including how we listen to music and how we take photographs and videos. Do you think Apple will eventually eliminate the need for users to carry a wallet?
